Instrumental band This Is a Process of a Still Life hails from the far reaches of Montana. They translate Montana’s massive spaces into whirling instrumental ambient indie rock that boasts just as much space in each song but still lending it a cozy feel. Each song has an organic texture that breathes life into each individual note giving it a natural melancholy. As evocative as bands like Xiu Xiu (whom they’ve played alongside) and other post-rock instrumental journeymen Explosions in the Sky, This Is a Process of a Still Life will have you crawling deep inside yourself giving you the gift of mental freedom to explore your most deepest thoughts and desires. One of the best bands that I’ve heard all year for sure. Check them out live as they’re joined by other great bands Early Day Miners and The Drift.
